i am very very new to the mpc. i dont even have it yet. i am getting it in the mail sometime this week, i got an mpc 2500 unopened for $750. i am very excited to get this. i am a drummer. i have played since i was 4 off and on but the bulk of it was in my teenage years (which i am still in, im 18). i have previously owned the native instruments maschine... i hated it. there was sooo many flaws in the software i could not use it. so i returned it and bought an mpc. its nice to meet you and i cant wait to be active in this forum.

You should get the JJOS just because it's better, but also because the XL version shows a MIDI grid on the main screen, probably helpful if you're coming from FL and are more used to having some visual feedback to look at.

Trap beats? Aww man, you are gonna love Note Repeat on the MPC. :D

oh hell yea i loved note repeat on the maschine. its just the maschine sucked. it wouldnt recognize my sound card (my behringer mixer) and when it did it would shortly after crash:p so i returned it. the maschine hands down is no mpc killer. im so pumped to get my 2500 its stupid. i heard it voids your warrenty but i mean there would be no warranty so what does it matter. does it cost anything?

I don't really get into that whole "Insert Product Here" Killer stuff. I will say though Maschine on a properly set up PC/Mac is fantastic, but it's obviously for the computer and not everybody is into that. I've got so much sample material I couldn't survive without a quicker way to access it, and that's mainly what Maschine does for me. I have an extremely powerful computer/audio interface though, so it's costly to have Maschine working at it's full potential. Honestly I'm not surprised an in-built interface on Behringer couldn't cut it.

Sounds like the MPC is perfect for you Greg, and the Note Repeat is superior to Maschine's (Maschine's is still good tho). It makes for a nice MIDI controller for FL and other apps too.

There's a free JJOS on his site, majority of people on this forum with 1000/2500's go all out and buy the JJOS2XL for $123. (Gives you access to lower versions too) The site looks real low budget, but don't trip, JJ is 100% on the level.
