wtf is this shit? lol i guess its pretty common, but ive only ever used something with a 1 midi in out to hook up to my audio interface.

my mpc 500.

now that i have a 2500 i dont know how to midi it up, as it has midi in 1/2 and midi out A,B,C,D

i was thinking that you probably go midi in 1 to midi out on my interface and midi out A to midi in on my interface, would this be correct?

then if i just want to use it as a controller or a soundsource for that matter i would have to turn off pad to sampler in my 500, where the puck is this at in my jjos 2xl 2500?

there was one other setting that i am forgetting about too, in the track params on my 500 i had to change them to midi or sync or something else.

would i do this aswell with my 2500? any one know where the menu is at? theres a track setting in the midi menu that i think may work similar but i havent gotten it to recive my midi notes yet.

thanks alot in advance, ive been combing through the oringinal 2500 manual and also the jjos 2xl manual but i cant seem to find out.

i just wana use it as a midi controller and as a soundsource for my daw like i did for my 500.

thanks alot

im using logic 8, but im not trying to set up a slave/ master setup.

im trying to use my mpc as a soundsource and logic as its sequencer. so when i push a pad on my mpc then i can edit in my piano roll in logic instead of my mp, it works better that way for me.

when i did this before with my 500, i would create an external midi instrument and it would accept my mpc, but if i remember correctly it would also trigger soft synths (ie. battery 3 pads) if i selected that track and pushed a pad.

i just cant wrap my head around the midi in 1/2 then the midi out a,b,c,d, i dont know which midi in corresponds to which midi out.
i would assume that midi in 1 corresponds to midi out A, but they are spaced apart quite a ways physically so it looks weird.

and i dont know how to turn off my "local control" or pad to sampler in jjos 2xl.

thanks for your input guys, ill keep tryin.

midi 1 and 2 refer to which input jack the midi is going into on the mpc, 1234 refer to which midi output you're using on the mpc. In the midi sequencer window go to track part (lower region of screen) highlight where it says "Drum" as program type, rotate to "midi" and set the channel to the corresponding channel in logic you want to trigger, channel 1a triggers the fist channel in logic from source a of the mpc, if the cord was plugged in the b output you would choose 1b to trigger channel one in logic and 2b would trigger channel 2 and so and so. So if it plugged into a for the ouput make sure the channel number has an A after it.

yo ark thanks for the reply man, ive been trying to **** with this since i got it!

it works great to trigger softsynths and such in logic, although on the jjos 2xl i found that when i go to the sequencer screen i just have to go to the bottom corner and by defult there is a midi box in the bottom corner and i just had to turn that from off to 1a; i didnt have to change it from drum to 1a.

either way, thats way easier than the steps i had to go through on the 500. im gonna try it later on tonight with audio from the mpc.

thanks again man.
