Okay, I am a super noob to the whole MPC thing. I've been working with an MPK49 and an NI Maschine and I just got my MPC3000 in the mail yesterday and I'm super excited to get working. However, my MPC3000 only came with a power cable... I have a midi/midi cable but I DO NOT understand how to get this thing to start making any noise via Logic or how to use it at all. I've tried googling all of my issues but seem to have no luck finding what I need. How do I get to use this beautiful MPC3000?!? With Logic?!?

Even links to get me in the right direction would be of great help; any help would be great. I just wanna have fun with this thing.

If it's your first MPC I suggest you spend some time learning to use it standalone first.

Whats the big rush too use it with Logic exactly huh?

Logic won't help you learn to sample, chop or sequence on an MPC.

Read up on some threads in the 3000 forum, watch some 3000 vids on MPC-TV and of course...

Download the manual.

Thanks man I appreciate the links. This thing is so foreign to me... I didn't even know you could use it in standalone mode! Do I need zip disks for that or is there another way around it? I just don't understand how to even hook it up to my computer hardware-wise/physically.

With the MPC3000 a floppy drive came as standard, but they also have a SCSI port on the rear panel which allows you to use SCSI zip drives, SCSI hard drives and more recently SCSI card readers. Zip drives are unreliable so avoid those at all costs no matter how cheap they are. Internal or external card readers are now the preferred choice but its good to retain the floppy drive if possible.

Also the MPC3000 does not connect to a computer directly, but rather via midi and audio cables connected to inputs on your MIXER or AUDIO INTERFACE.

Computer setup: SOUND SOURCE>>MPC3000>>MIXER/AUDIO INTERFACE>>HEADPHONES/MONITORS>>COMPUTER

Standalone setup: SOUND SOURCE>>MPC3000>>HEADPHONES/ACTIVE MONITORS

Oh I see. So, when I use the standalone set up, how do I record the samples into the MPC3000 and chop them up? Like, how do I go about creating "noise," so to speak, from the MPC itself and begin using it as it should?
