Alright so I have 2 problems for anyone willing to help.

my first problem isnt so mpc 5000 related but if you can help in anyway thanks alot.
so, i recently bought cubase 6 for further mixing and mastering purposes, now im trying to connect my microphone upto cubase which is installed onto the macbook. im working with the akg perception 220 (mic) which needs phantom power which the interface im using (m-audio mobile pre) has, this isnt the problem. the problem is getting sound! i have a slight suspicion it could be my speakers. im currently using standard logitech speakers which is connect to a 1/4 inch plug which is hooked into the headphone jack. it works on the mpc. but dosnt work on the interface. any help? of what it could be. and if the speakers are the problem, any recomendations for new ones ? thanks

my second problem is hooking up the mpc 5k to cubase 6. i bought a midi interface cable on one end there's a usb plug which obviously plugs into the macbook. but on the other end there are 2 midi plugs. i've figures ones input and the others output, your not supposed to plug them both into the mpc. so is there another piece of hardware to make this connection work? any recomendations (pictures).
although i think i can connect the mpc 5k to the m-audio interface via 1/4 jacks. that being said what inputs/outputs do i need to connect them to? and what jacks do you recomend.
this is my first time with software, i usually just use the mpc as a complete workstation. so this is relatively new to me,
thanks for the help. if any

The MIDI to USB cable will provide your Macbook/ Cubase with 1x MIDI IN and 1x MIDI OUT over USB.

If the MIDI to USB cable requires a software driver to operate, install this first before trying anything!!

Now, the MIDI IN plug on the USB cable should be connected to your MPC's MIDI OUT A to allow midi data to pass from the 5000 to Cubase.

The MIDI OUT plug on the cable can be connected to the MIDI IN of your MPC for (a) synchronising with the MPC as slave or (b) for sending midi data from Cubase to your MPC. It could also be used to send midi data from Cubase to other external synths, FX units or whatever you might have with a midi input port.

It is not essential for basic operations to have MIDI data going into the MPC from Cubase, so the MIDI OUT plug of your MIDI to USB cable can remain unconnected unless you need it for something.

Not so sure about your first problem, but monitors should use the monitor outputs and headphones use the headphone output under normal circumstances. Do some troubleshooting and I'm sure you'll nail it...

@OP I know you're a rookie and all that but most of your threads belong in the 'Getting Started' forum as they are pretty basic fodder. The 5000 furum is intended for issues specific to the MPC5000 itself not DAW's, interfaces or cables etc. And try to make your thread titles more descriptive, people tend to ignore 'help me!' threads.

So this thread has been moved.
