Your box is a sampler, so if you want you can put drum kits onto the CF card (that goes into the slot at the front) via the USB cable.

OR

If you want you can use the inputs at the back and record directly from any source as long as you have the right cables. It's your choice.

I'm not sure what you mean by "and for the songs?". If you mean what do you do with them after you've finished, well you usually finish by recording the entire thing back into your computer so you can make final adjustments to it. You can either do that from the main outputs at the back. Or if you want you can assign different parts of your song to the assignable outputs at the back, you have 8 of those, and again you can record each part to the computer to polish it off.

There's no real right or wrong way, just learn what each thing does and then enjoy yourself.

J.Ao, the CDM25 kit does allow you to burn tracks to CD and sample from CD's, but at $200 it probably isn't worth it. (It's essentially a $40 drive). The method Scooby described is way more common. That $200 would be much better spent on an audio interface for your computer if you don't already have one. It would give you quality inputs to record the 2500's tracks to a computer DAW program, and it will improve the sound quality and responsiveness of any VST/DAW software you may be using.
