Akai mpk 49 with mpc 1000?

I have one question about akai mpk 49 i need a keyboard and i thought about this. If i have mpk49 and mpc 1000 can this two things work together? Can i use mpk 49 like normal keyboard and use this sounds on mpc 1000?

consider saving a little more money and get an axiom instead, mpk's are not known for quality from what I've heard and read around the interwebs and friends.
