How's it going guys? I just discovered this forum and it felt like I found a bunch of like minded people in the way we approach music creation, so I thought I'd join and say hi!
I have very little experience with MPCs, other than knowing what they are and banging on their pads in a music store every now and then. I've been sequencing since I was in high school and I appreciate good hardware, but I'm currently using Geist/Ableton Live and an MPD to trigger. I'm fairly experienced with the computer/DAW side if anyone needs a hand sometime (made it through many midi nightmares!)
Music wise, I have been into electronic stuff since the rave days of the early 90's, but since I got Geist and an MPD, I am really growing an appreciation for more down tempo beats and sample chopping. Not really hip hop, but more like a revamped electro boogie/70's funk thing.
I can now honestly see why hip hop and the MPC are so closely knit. Having those pads in front of you just makes you want to create beats!
Nice to meet you all, look forward to learning some tips and sharing some trax!
