wadup,

thinking of getting a 500, portability being a massive thing. but i wanna know if its powerful enough to be the centerpeice of my studio? ill have my turntables/mixer (via RCA) and korg microkontrol (via midi) going into it, n monitors coming out? as i said portability being a big thing im not bothered by less pads and small screen.

if yes then,

which of these chop programs is best? iv herd mpcmaid beatbutchermpc and blue box are all pretty dope(as said in these forums), is there anything i needa know specific about them? im looking at getting the 500 in the next few days so time to **** around wit em aint an option.

any help would be appreciated.

Depend what u imagine to do with it.
Do u absolutely need battery powered unit? yeah it's light..
mpc1000 fits 17" laptop bag with cables and all joints  and it's more versatile unit so consider it. It weights like two laptops, but it's mostly metal.

Plus the screen and original manual for 500 make it IMO difficult for anyone who's not used how mpcs work and how to navigate. Ever had a mobile phone with 1 or 2 text lines?

the 500 is very portable...but i wouldnt honestly see it as a center to any studio..
the 1000 is a little bigger and a used one can be fetched for just a little more then a 500....i also wouldnt want to be tethered to always needing a computer to to do stuff thats easy to do on the 1000(chopping)...imo get a 1000 you will be happier.

What's the problem with chopping samples on the 500? Come on son, use your ears! 8)

PS: You really might want to consider a 1000... they can be had for almost the same price as a 500 and have way more features.

yeh iv been considering a 1000 but over here in aus, a second hand unit goes for round 900 wer a 500 goes for around 500. dont wanna blow the whole pay check tho im considering it. there both second hand and both obviously not gona be on the market for long. also looked at a 2000xl tho iv not herd good things and protability is a big thing tho not everything (plus i like using my ears i mix the **** outta wax all day without a laptop)

wat about these sample chopping programs iv herd about? blue bird mpcmaid etc?do they take most of the hassle out of the small screen if used correctly?
