Hey guys,

Sorry i'm asking a MIDI question again, i've read over the manual and a page on MPCtutor but i'm really struggling to sort my set-up out so i'm just going to describe it here and if anyone could help me that would be great.

Basically I have a MPC1000 (with JJ 2.0) with a Novation XStation 25, a Midi Keyboard Controller (Alesis Q25) and a Sound Module (Yamaha FB-01). I've connected the Novation to the MPC via MIDI then back again (1A, MIDI handshake) then the MIDI keyboard to the MPC then out to the sound module. I want the keyboards to control their respective sound modules but NOT have any effect on the samples loaded to the MPC pads and vice versa (pads don't control the synths in anyway).

I think my main problem is something to do with channels but i'm really struggling, any help would be great.

Thanks

When sequencing using midi, the mpc track type has to be midi.
In any of your machines are there any functions like PADS TO INTERNAL SOUNDS or LOCAL CONTROL on/off so that your pads/keys will only play on their respective machine?

I just want to input beats using my MPC, a bassline using one synth and then chords/melody line using the other then looping all the parts. Basically each instrument controls themselves but the MPC holds all the MIDI information.

If I got you right, then:

Main keyb Midi Out ->Midi In 1
MPC Midi Out A->Synth A Midi In
Synth A Midi Thru -> Synth B Midi In

Bass = Midi Ch. 1
Chord = Midi Ch. 2
Melody = Midi Ch. 3
...

Then select Novation to receive Midi Ch. 1 for bass notes, soundmodule to receive Ch. 2, 3 etc.

Change trasmitting Midi Ch on every new track you want to have Midi information. When track is sendin Midi, turn the program off.
