I have the M Audio Fast Track, MPC 1000 and a Macbook.
Questions:
Can i export through this audio interface?
How does mixing work once you exporting something? I find the mixing and effects in the 1000 JJOS effective[no pun intended] but minimal.
Is it possible to record sequences into the audio tracks[i have 128 mb ram] and export from there?

Thank you so much.

I track MPC to DAW individually i.e Bass, Kick, Snare, etc and the mix in the DAW.

So Basically the line outs to the line in the audio interface.

Export, you mean transfer of a sample, files from your cf card?
mpc usb -> macbook for that. Not through a interface. Interface is for audio/midi.
Not file transfer.

an audio interface is for sending AUDIO signal to and from your computer... hence the name... you need to record from your MPC to your computer as audio... or from your computer to your MPC as audio... hence the name... define what you mean by "export"...

Sorry, when i mentioned the audio interface, i thought it was implied that i was talking about audio. I know how to transfer files from and into the mpc. My question was about recording audio into a DAW through the MAUDIO. Also, how would you "export" individual trakcs like kicks, hats etc...

Thank you!

again... i don't quite get what you're asking here... you can record whatever you send out from your MPC's outputs...

I was just asking if i can do it through the certain audio interface i have?

Also, im asking how to send each track individually?

you assign which tracks go to which outputs from within the MPC... in the mixer screen... that's covered in the manual... if you have an audio interface, it can record audio... period... it doesn't have to be "mpc compatible", it just needs to have audio inputs...

MPC mixer tracks can be set to any of the individual outs.

mpc individual outs -> audio interface inputs.
Audio interface usb/firewire -> mackbook -> daw.

You assign/matchup daw tracks to the audio interface outputs in the daw.
BAM, standard audio route.

Ditto!! And I'm sure most of us follow this process as it's easier to control the overall drums....

well... ideally, for multi-tracking as separate tracks from your MPC into your DAW, you would want an interface with numerous inputs so that you can record tracks separately all at once into the DAW... in the case of the fast-track, that isn't an option and if you want individual tracks you're going to have to record them one by one and manually line them up in your DAW once you're done recording... so yeah, there is no easy way to do this really...

there's a "trick" mentioned in the mpc4000 section of the forum which you could essentially apply to your current setup as well... you basically make multiple copies of the same sequence in your MPC, mute all the sounds except for the one you want to track out... do this for every track you have and then sequence them one after another in song mode... this makes lining them up easier in your DAW since all tracks will be the same length... check it out in detail here...

That is a great trick! I just tracked it out right now and currently mixing on ableton. You guys are awesome!
