Semi-noob question, would this mpc/pc setup work?

Ok, please bare with me. I have a m-audio fast track pro as my soundcard for my sony laptop. I have its trs outputs connected to the aux input in my turntable's amp/receiver which I'm planning to route to my mpc 1000s record in via one of my receivers outputs. I intend to record music from my pc/turntable to my mpc 1000, chop samples, make drum sequences etc. then send the main out of my mpc to a mixer (I dont have one yet, I'm looking at a Behringer XENYX X1204USB 12-Channel Mixer), then output the signal to the fast track pro's inserts in order to track everything in Ableton on my laptop.

I've been at it on the mpc for quite a bit now and I now think it's time to incorporate the power of a DAW. Half of this setup is theoretical, having said that, I want to know, from an experienced point of view, will this setup allow me to achieve the intended results? Any and all help is much appreciated!

I'm a little tired but that sounds like it would work fine. Making sure you have a pre-amp for the phono signal is the key thing in the sampling routing you are setting up. Coming from the receiver you have that sorted and I'm sure the table's ground wire is attached to the receiver's ground which is a plus.

You might want to get some digital S/PDIF cables for tracking the MPC to Ableton. Cleanest signal possible and all your assignable outs on the 1000 can go over just 2 cables covering input and output. I assume you were considering the mixer due to the Fast Track Pro's limited inputs. With S/PDIF you could even skip the mixer if you want.

So if I have use s/pdif on my mpc, I'll be able to record any signal out the fast track pro? Just like RECORD IN? And vice-versa, as in send any signal out the MAIN OUT?
So basically s/pdif eliminates the need for the 1/4" RECORD IN and 1/4" MAIN OUT?
What about my turntable/amp, can I still plug that into the mpc's RECORD IN and utilize that as well?

Basically yes, it's just digital rather than analog. I have a Fast Track Ultra but I remembered you have less inputs.

You could still do the turntable on the analog 1/4"'s but not at the same time the MPC is in digital mode. It's just a toggle on an options screen for which input/output you will be using.

You should download an MPC manual and leaf through it. They have plenty of screenshots so it's easy to visualize how the machine works.
