Hi everybody! I want to join the mpc family; but I want to do it right, so, I need to ask a few questions.

I wanna buy an mpc for producing hip hop beats. I really don't like digital sounds, and softwares for producing have a really unnatural workflow to me.
I've seen tons of vids of people producing with mpc and I'm getting surer and surer this is the stuff for me.
I'd produce mostly sampling my vynils, indeed.
Also, I have a guitar and a bass and I would love to sample them too.
In the end, I would also use digital samples, I don't exclude it, but I'm putting it in the bottom of the list cause it's the thing I would do less :P

What I like about mpc's is:
-the possibility of analogic input such as instruments and turntables;
-the PADS, I really want to tap on them and see I'm making music with my fingers, not with a mouse...
-the wonderful workflow and the fact that you can make a 100% complete beat only with it, without using other stuff.

Beacause of this , it seemed to be that the MPC that would do for me is the MPC 1000.

First one I considered was the 2000 XL, but seemed to me obsolete and, nowadays, hard to use and not much compatible (how do you even export a beat made with that on a pc?).

So, I've explained my needs.. hope you'll suggest me which mpc suits me the most!
If I said something wrong please correct me. Bless.

Yes for me too but to each its own. Other peoplee don't like to be limitated as on hardware samplers, I NEED to work with limitated stuff otherwise I loose focus.

Well unless you buy something like the Melloton I fear you have to work with digital samples. They are all digital.

 ooooo kaaaaay. So you think an audio interface doesn't have analog inputs for recorrding instruments, microphones, turntables or any other signal?

You're wrong ;)

Well it seems you doesn't know that an audio interface (also known as soundcard) often has MIDI connections so you don't have to set colored blocks with a mouse but PLAY your samples on the PC with a pdcontroller o a keyboard. You can also control many things in software with the controllers on such devices (knobs, faders, ribbon, infrared controller etc)

Yes thats cool but it also depends on what you think a "100% complete beat" is. You won't get a state of the art reverb on a MPC or what about compression or other FX. The MPC might not provide a mixing stage that will satisfy you. But even if the features sounds good that doesn't mean that they are easy to deal with. In other words: there goes your "wonderful workflow" (The more complex it gets the more of the limitation of a small display will frustrate you IMO) So dig for infos.

I export a bat thu the analog outs of the MPC to the analog ins of my audio inteface.

So where are the questions you mentioned?

Download the manuals, start reading, figure out what's best for you.
or
Wait for the newest technology and don't complain(MPC Renaissance is coming)
or
purchase MPC4000 (it's wonderful, very big, easy)
or
Buy MPC's that need JJOS and deal with all that.
or
Get a simple MPC2000/xl (cheap, available in many configurations, works fine)
or
If you have money get an MPC3000(you'll be happy)
or
Buy a MPC5000 (you get nifty features and a synth)
or lastly
Get a MPC60 and be a little frustrated but have fun and soon you'll want a newer mpc.

This is MPC's in a nutshell.
cheers,
Ian

All MPCs are digital, there's no escape. But MPCs are most used with sampling vinyl so its a win-lose situation for you. Get over it and get a MPC 3000. Sample those Yankee Doodle records you been dying to make a beat out of.

Mpcs are limited in dynamic and effects processing. If your anal about that kind of stuff you'll find making a beat may take longer due to tracking outand doing the other half of the work on your daw. Me personally I don't mind using the same processors all the time. Reason gave me limitless possibilities and I found myself doing more tweaking than beat building. Someone above said they need gear with limitations....I know exactly where your coming from. With that being said, it's all subjective from user to user.
