recording to mpc...save ram question

if you record directly to the mpc and use its sample time and then decide you dont want what you just recorded, have you forever lost that amount of recording time, or does purging it/deleting it give you back the time you spent recording it?

EXAMPLE: you record a 4 bar synth loop in stereo on the mpc 1000 and ten minutes later decide you dont want that particular recording, can you delete it and get that time back?
