3 part 3k question (saving to zip, volume boost, quantize)

Hi, I couldn't find anyone asking these questions for the MPC 3000. My friend just let me borrow his for a little while and I've already made 2 beats, but there are some issues I'm having...

1. How do I save everything (samples, tracks and sequences) to the ZIP drive? (he's got an external SCSI zip drive hooked up to it)

2. Is there any way to boost the volume on a sample after I've recorded it? (I've used the stereo mixer to bump everything else down as a temporary solution)

3. My hi-hats sound like shit...timing-wise. How should I quantize them to get a fairly basic hi-hat? and then how about for double-time hi-hats?

1. Hit Disk, then 1 to save a sequence for your sequences - then save a corresponding program (save all sounds) buy hitting 5. Make sure you select the right disk partition by selecting 0 in the same screen.

2. Go to sounds, hit 6 to edit sounds, youll see a volume % in the corner, you can boost the volume from 100% to 200%.

3.While on main screen hit Timing Correct, here you can play with the timing of your hats, for double time just switch the timing to 1/32. You can also get nice swing triplets in there if you want.

in regards to 3, i was using timing correct, but the hats still sounded kinda off...or inconsistent or sometimes they'd get eliminated in the track....i'll try messing with it some more. ...and Swing is always set at 50% to start. ...is that right?

thanks. on 3, since you cant set the timing on the 32nd notes, you gotta be careful about the swing & shift you set your 16th notes on. good luck tho.
