Bonjours my friends,

I would like to start of by saying i have looked for answers to this question via the search option, not sure if im using the right terms when searching but my search wasnt really succesful. If similar thread already exists you can simply direct me to it and close this one.

I have been using my MPC 1000 as a stand alone unit past few months. I have still lots to learn on it, but im at a stage where i am comfortable enough on it to make sounds i consider decent. Prior to using the MPC i was solely using Ableton live with an axiom 25. My workflow on the MPC is alot faster as im more limited in my options. However i would like to have the option to track certain beats to ableton in order to do modifications such as LPFs in certain spots of a verse to have a build up, add variety to my 16/32 bars, etc. I have not yet found a way to do this on the MPC (im currently simply adding variety by muting and un-muting groups). All that to say, what is the simplest way to achieve this tracking to ableton.

I was told i need an audio interface, which i do not currently have. If i absolutely need one, what would be a cheap but good recomendation?

My set up currently includes
Macbook Pro + External harddrive for my sounds
Midi Cables + M-audio USB to Midi converter
Axiom 25
Old telefunk record player + artcessorie phono pre amp
MPC 1000
1976 farfiza keyboard which im currently restoring

my B-day is in a month im therefore playing to add an audio interface/DJ mixer to plug in my MPC + keyboard.

Sorry for the long post, just trying to give as much info of my situation as possible!
Thanks!

MPC-Tutor wrote:If you have a Mac, I throughly recommend the Edirol FA-66 firewire audio interface - no drivers required, just plug and play, perfect for a Mac, grab them on ebay for good prices. It's the one I use in my 'MPC With Ableton' book.

Thanks ill look into it!
Might purchase that ebook as well! looks like it would facilitate my learning of mixing both the MPC and ableton in my productions instead of using em separately
