I have a 2000xl. I don't plan on getting the 8 out options, so i plan on recording two tracks at a time using the l/r outs.

My budget $300 allows me to get a used BR-900CD on Amazon. Do you think this recorder should be sufficient enough or should I get something else. If you can recommend something else I gladly appreciate it.

I don't plan on using Ableton, or Pro Tools or anything either. Thanx.

Well, its known that BRs are tough on the learning curve. But they do bring a proper sound and an abundant of effects. Almost every hardware DAW can do what software can do but on a little screen and you'll have to copy and paste parts by time and numbers unlike software where you just click and highlight sections with a mouse.

But since you going hardware, I would recommend a brand new Tascam DP02 with CD recorder because of its ease of use and abundant effects. I'm not hot on the DP03 because its lacks digital outputs and its not as classy as the DP02. Also lacks MIDI which the DP02 also has.

But its your choice, BRs are nice though, just have to really get into it.

EDIT - Oh I can't forget the ZOOM R8, thats a little badass multitrack and comes with a sampler and drumkit.
