Which one is the best?

I got a Apple PowerMac G5. Now I need help finding the best editing program for it. I got my MPC1000 connected to my Mac but I wanna edit the samples from the turntables, cd player, etc. But I'm real picky. Yea i kno i got problems. I heard bout Adobe Audition, Peak, etc. but which one is the best one out there and if yall want... maybe tell me why is the best one... and wut makes it so much better from da other. Let me kno yall... Thanks!!!!

People can come here and tell you what they think is the best program to use, but for real, what works brilliantly for someone else might not be good for you. Try a few different programs and use what works best for you. You got a mac so downloading software could be a hassle if you’re into that, but you could get a few demos and try them out. First place I’d go is protols.com and d/l P/T Free... might only be available for OS9, though.

Yes, Audacity is actually quite good (for the $$$ ). And it even runs great on an older Mac G3 (with OSX).

Audiocity? I checked it out. But this can't be as good as Peak can it? DOes it have timestretch and all that other good stuff?

I'm looking at it now... Well, as near as I can see, you can change pitch without changing tempo, or change tempo without changing pitch. You can specify the length and beats per minute (BPM). It also has some other useful features, like echo, phase, wah, reverse, high and low pass filters, noise remover, etc. It will also import/export WAV files so there shouldn't be a problem flying between the Mac and the 1k. Not bad for free!

Yes, Bias Peak is good. The full ver is $400 though. There is an LE ver for $80 which would probably be fine for us average bears, but it depends on what features you need. (See: http://www.bias-inc.com ) Their multitrack software, "Deck" is also good ($320) and you can use the little Tascam US428 control surface with it. Peace.
