if you have audio sounds on your computer and you want to record them onto a sampler, how do you do it with an interface..instead of using the headphone output?

if the interface had an aux output, wouldnt that output only work for instruments that are running into the interface...and not the audio on the computer?

there should be assignable outputs to send your stuff through. then just 1/4 inch out to 1/4 inch in on your mpc with 2 cables.

i wanted to chop up my samples in audacity and instead of doing the whole "save as wav -> save file -> drag and drop via usb" ordeal....i wanted to just get my chops perfect in the program and just hit record on the mpc 500 and press play one time in
audacity and record the sample that way, instead of doing all the saving and drag-n-dropping.

i plugged up the aux outs into my mpc 500 record ins (just removed my turntable from the inputs of the 500, so i know there isnt a problem with volume input)...using the aux outs of my mixer, turned the channel volume up and all i get is a bunch of static.

i looked the specifications of the mixer and the aux outs and main outs of the mixer both output at the same exact levels. im getting the audio out fine from my speakers, but the aux outs just apparently arent working correctly (or im overlooking something completely.?)

I don't know 500's much, but... is there a Line/Phono switch or setting that you have to change to Line for receiving your aux outs into the 500's record ins?
