Hi,
Im new to the forum and recently bought an MPC2500(se) was using the MPD 32 for a year prior to that and have been producing nearly 2 years. Im very serious about making it my main instrument or at least one of as im sure most people here are. Im all about the live aspect of the MPC (and live electronic music in general) i record my loops into abletons looper using a footswitch. With that in mind i have a few questions for the knowledgeable heads. If you have any info to impart on the MPC or ableton in a live setting i would be very grateful.

can you record a loop of x bars or variable length on the MPC2500?

tips and tricks for live performance?
where can i find tips for playing the MPC live?
who are your fav MPC artists in live setting?

what is the best in your opinion pad layout? at the moment i use 1-kick 2-snare 3-hat 4-hat variation 5-Cymbal 6-Clap/Rim 7-Ohat 8-Cymbal.

velocity curve settings? and creating expressive kits? tuning drum hits where can i learn about this?

do you practice drum tabs, where do you find your tabs how often do you practice the mpc do you have a routine?

how do you avoid or get passed the dreaded silence at the end of a loop?

time signatures? i can play 4/4 and i think 3/4 i have no formal music training so im not sure if im getting it right any resources to help explain or square away this issue. i can play the piano with 4/4 on one hand and 3/4 on the other at the same time so im not hopeless im just not sure the knowledge is meeting the technique i need some sort of practice resource for this and obviously for harder time sigs. (from the long winded explanation its clear that i dont have a **** clue)

playing hi hats?
i do want to play hi hats, but after practicing this like crazy i find myself needing the hi hat to keep tempo with more complex beats. the beat then tends to comes off the hats which is fine but the hardship of keeping the hats going takes away from my kick snare my beats become a mush of hi hat like a shitty metronome. I use ghost hits or an empty pad sometimes which helps. any thoughts on hats in live setting?

The best thing you can do is search around the forum one topic at a time, or alternatively buy Tutor's ebook which explain most of what you need to know.

Reading the manual is also advisable.

you asked too much dude, and all at once.

i started to skim read a paragraph in...

Coz gave you the soundest advice, read your own message back. take each question one at a time, chances are they've been answered here before.
if you get stuck, come back to the boards with a more specific and concise question. and make sure the subject line covers the basics.

and don't bite back or no one is gonna help.

Touché my friend, because the internet has made YOU a jaded lady's private parts. Due to fact that you got ass-raped sore from watching someone else get all the attention of MPC-Forums love. You was like "I want some of that tender loving care." Then love snuffed you from behind and you was like

Love's gonna getcha

Love's gonna getcha

Love's gonna getcha!!
