Wats the sense in making programmes?

yo - this is probably some basic sh*t for a lot of you, but i still havent really understood why I should make separate programmes with the MPC. I've got the 2kXL, and all I do is just assign all my drums/percussion to Bank A, and all my instruments/samples to bank B {and so on if there are any other categories}.
What are the advantages of actually creating drum/instrument programmes? I've done it before but it just F*cked heapsa sh*t up for me and swore i'd never do it again...

especially with the xl (because you can play muliple programs ato once) you could start up a beat with some samples, load a program of all drums and have quick access to a range of drum sounds and find the ones that sound best.

even with the 2k that can only play one program at a time, i can still load more than one program at a time, and i find it convenient to have a few programs of drums and/or bass sounds that i already like lying around. i can load them up and pick a few sounds i like to add to another program (because the assign window for any given program sees all the sounds in memory).

the idea being that you can reuse many drum sounds and bass sounds lots more than you can reuse melodic samples

ahh yeah i see, good for comparison - spose i need to utilise it more, because it really Farrrked a lot of things up for me once.

When I got my xl I only used one program for a long time, because I was kind of intimidated by the whole DRUM/PROGRAM thing and didn't really understand it.. Once I took the time to learn it it made my working a lot faster and more effective.

Make sure to grab the manual and read up on PROGRAMS and DRUMs.
It's easy to fck things up if you don't know what you're doing...

I've just started utilizing multiple programs myself. Because i just started using a midi keyboard.

So, say i have my initial program... drums, a few samples, etc.
Then i find a nice guitar that i want to map accross the keys, so i do an autochromatic assign and create a new program. So now i have two "drums" covered. Than i do the same with a bass note, etc....

It's definitley a sick feature once you have a need for it.
