better velocity behavior..

I bought the Akai LPD8 and i'm very dissapointed with the trigger behavior of it. The sensitivity is to less and if you hit the pads just a little bit more you trigger the pads with max. velocity.
Short.., it feels bad

Can anybody recommend a Pad-Controller with better Velocity behavior. But i don't want to spend too much..

What type of software are you running the LPD on?

Chances are, the velocity setting are on whatever program you're using. Should be able to at least adjust the sensativity and velocity.

I'm almost positive the velocity curve on the LPD8 is fixed.

Like Ill Green mentioned it's gonna have to be something you change in software and not all software is going to have that as it's more often on your device as it is on MPC, MPD or most keyboards.

There are some simple MIDI plugins that do that though.

But it's kind of a pain to set up because you have to use a free MIDI routing app like MIDI Yoke or loopMIDI to set it up.

Ableton probably has a MIDI plugin built in that does that, all my hardware and controllers can change the curve on the hardware so I'm not sure.

I know for sure Reaper has a built in plug in that does that, but like Ableton's MIDI utility plugins you can only use it in that DAW. Cubase has one too, and I know Kontakt lets you do it in the plugin.

if you still dont lilke your velocity curves on the lpd 8, (i didnt like how mine changed banks, pretty much excluded it from live play) i would go with a mpd 18 with the fat pad upgrade.

i had an mpd 18 (which cycled through 3 banks with the push of 1 button) and i was gonna get the fat pads for it, but decided against it when i got fat pads for my 1k and stopped using the mpd's all together.
i have heard alot of great things about the pad upgrades for the mpd 18 though, and i swear by them for my 1k!

hope this helps a bit. i know i kinda went on a tangent about the bank cycling, but it was something i felt was really lacking in the lpd8, and i sold mine for like 40 or 50 bucks, then got the mpd 18 used for 50 bucks, so imo, an mpd 18 is always better than an lpd, and you get 16 pads per bank instead of 8 pads too, so thats a plus. although if you use the knobs, you might not want to go this route, as the mpd 18 just has one q link slider and a total lack of knobs.

just some food for thought, cause you can have more pads for around the same money if you really want to go that route.
