New to MPCs. Help with OS and Manuals

Hello!
So, I got a used MPC-1000 from eBay that has the free version of JJ OS operating it.
I'm completely new to MPCs & with no experience with sampling and find everything difficult to understand but I'm patient.
Question is, with Akai's User Manual help me get started with the machine?
Because the manual of the Free Version of JJ OS seems to skip the basics (which I don't know).

Is the JJ OS for more advanced users and would it be better to start with the Akai OS?

Please, any advice would be helpfull.

The free JJOS is very similar to the Akai OS, but with some improvements. I wrote a tutorial book for it here:
