I use logic but dont really use the virtual intruments that much; the most interesting sounds are either samples or from my analog synths. I use it as a sequenser but thats about it - ok I use some of the plugins for compression/EQ but given the money i'd much rather go for hardware. And since Apple bought up emagic there's the pressure of gettin a mac and now the new G5... So I've been looking at what other options for sequencing and recording. I'm thinking scrap the software, get a decent mpc and start from scratch... Any thoughts?
I was in the same situation, and since I bought the mpc 4000 five months ago, my productions have stepped up a level in terms of groove and swing that can't be matched by any other sequencer. I would really recomend it to anyone. I poroduce electronic music myself and it has now become the centre peice of my studio. I used to run logic on a mac but really was blown away by the simplicity of working with the mpc. plus try taking your whole computer rig and all to a gig and you'll run into some problems. mpc is dead easy to use live and can really be used as an instrument. I wouldn't think twice... get a 4000.....
with ak sys the software that comes with the mpc and hooks into the mpc via usb, you can just drag folders from your computer and straight into the mpc. with recycle, you can chop up loops and save them as akai presets and drag them into the mpc from your computer. it couldn't be easier.
