2 questions re: mpc, midi & xp-30, and one re: MPC2kxL

Sup yall...
My first question is basic and yet, I fail to remember this although I know I have done it before and I think it is an easy fix? Anyway, I have a drum sound (a whole program actually) of sounds where if you hold down a pad on the MPC for too long, the sound loops rahter than just hits as one note...therefore a quick snare for instance, rattles a few hits in one usual tap. Anyone know how to fix this?
Also, I can't seem to grasp or figure out midi channels and getting a different sound on each one. I have done this by defualt somehow in the past, but normally, if I select a patch from my XP30 and record a sequence synced up to a drum pattern on my MPC, I can't add other patches on different channels. I have to stick with the same pattern but with a different sound if I choose a different patch. I understnad midid is info and not sounds, I dont however understand how to program midi to transmit on different channels and pick different patches for each channel to really add to my tracks. Any help is appreciated.

Shift & 5 now in the trim screen go to loop and turn it off you need to do this for all of your sounds. Whom ever you got the sounds from has set all of your sounds to do this. so you will have to disable the loop off of the sounds. As far as Midi and the xp30 goes.........you have to program the mp as like such............

Track 1 midi channel 1............Program number 1(just to say)
Track 2 Midi channel 2............Program Number 2(just to say)

so forth and so on........program Number can be any number you select but that should get you rolling.

Yeah, I'll try that Shift 5 thing for the looped sounds, that sucks I will have to do it on wach individual sound? But Thats cool, thanks for the advice. As for the Midi thing, do you happen to have an XP-30? I don't think many people in here do. I think my problem has do with my not knowing how to set different channels to different patches. I can always get 1 patch to work on chan 1-16, but I cant get one to work on 1, another on 2, anohter on 3, etc. I can't seem to figure out if there is a setting that I have to change somewhere or what, either in the XP or the MPC. If you can help any more on the subject, I appreciate it. THanks P....

I have the 10 and the 80.......the 10 is str8 forward but the 80 is kinda complex

Make sure that the xp 30 is in performance mode and turn the local off this should help you to make it how you want it.

Try that and let me know how you make out.
