Making samples out of one zoned sample

I had this guitar sample I made into 4 zones and wanted to assign each zone to a pad (as well as keeping the original full length sample as one sample). I checked the manual and it said to use the 'slice sound' funtion in the edit menu. So I did that, and said YES in the 'make new program' section. But then what? From the main screen, I can use the data wheel to select the program but I can't get the sounds (4 zones) to come through on the pads. What am I doing wrong/not doing?

It should have made a new program and they would be on A1 through whatever else depending on how many slices. Seems like you did four so they would be on A1-A4. Make sure you're on the right program and pad bank.

I think after you slice the sounds and it makes a program for you, you have to SHIFT+PGM and do something there. I'm not in front of mine right now, but I think you have to SHIFT+PGM right after slicing.

I was playing around with zoning again on the weekend and it did it for me (assigned 4 zones to A1-A4). Only problem is I didn't think I did anything different from the first time. I gotta learn how to use the program function better, though, cause that might've been what I didn't do when I first tried, and right now, that screen you get immediately after hitting SHIFT + PGM confuses the f#ck outta me.
