recording sounds from synth to mpc1000

is it possible to sequence sounds from a stand alone synth (no separate module) using the mpc 1000. By this i mean creating a sample of a synth sound, playing the sample (that is now on the mpc 1000) using the synth as a midi controller and recording onto the sampler playing the sample from the synth. A bit convoluted Im afraid, basically I want to be able to record my synth straight onto the sampler without having to sample my synth phrase without a click, you know what I mean. Sorry Im a bit hung over.

First have you spent some to try what you said?
I don't know bout the 1000 but I think (like for the 2KXL or other Akai samplrz), you CAN'T sample while sequencer's playing. You're not on a ASR samplrz... this is Akai world!!!
And at last I would say: record your key phrase on a recorder and then sample it to ya MP! That's it dude!!!
MPC's are great tools... don't be afraid to expériment.

I can't speak for the 1000 either, but Akai DID implement Sample while the sequence is playing
with the MPC 4000. I use the feature to sample my internal and external (Synth) sounds
into the MPC if I don't want to bring the modules along.

The 1000s can do that too, you can even "resample" a whole track mix if you have the 128MB memory expansion.

So what you're asking will work, but... do you really need to do that? Once you sample a synth phrase it's "frozen", you can't tweak it any more with controllers, and changing the pitch will change the length unless you timestretch. The alternative way is to record the MIDI of the phrase into the sequencer, then send it back to the synth at playback.
