Converting 16bit audio files to MPC 3000 on a Mac OSX

Computer SPECS: iMac late 2013 / 10.9.5 OSX

Sampler: MPC 3000 (digital output, memory maxed) / 3.11

Software: rs-16x

I've been using this:

sample the sounds on your computer into the mpc.
are you sure the 3k has digital outs? i think it only has digital in, in which case you have two choices...analogue or digital. your mac has digital output. but i think the SPDIF on the mac is optical, while SPDIF on the mpc is non optical. so you'd a need a little convertor box. easier to just use analogue...with one of these cables

Thanks!! I guess I should have noted that I'm using an Mbox Pro, but that cable you posted a pic of would still work. I could just use an adapter on the 1/8 inch to fit in the headphones of my Mbox and send to the MPC left/right split 1/4inch inputs.

I figure most MPC user's use the digital input to input music from a record player?

One other question:

What is the difference between using the SCSI on the back or inserted floppy's directly in the front?

ah, you've got a audio interface... use that cable. plug the 1/8 jack into your mac audio out. plug the two 1/4 jacks into the mic/line inputs on the back of the mbox. next... mbox spdif out to mpc spdif in.
you are right, you could run the signal out of the headphone jack then into the mpc. but the output of the headphones will be high. it's generally not the recomended way of doing it.

the mpc3000 is, as i understand it, known for it's nice sound. for that reason, i would not use the digital inputs. but go through the analogue inputs. that is, don't use the mbox. go straight from mac to mpc inputs. anyway, more than one way to sample sounds. try a few out see which work best for your set up.

i've never heard of anyone using the digital inputs on an mpc for recording from a turntable. i've never heard of a turntable with spdif outs. but plenty of cd players have them.
