Newbie here!!! So let me get this straight.........

Hey all!

I plan on getting an MPC 3000, but I HATE sampling vinyls and I HATE floppy disks. Im a CD, MP3 and Protools kind of guy. It just seems more accessible to me ya dig??

So is it true that if I buy the "right cables", I am able with the 3k to sample from an ordinary CD player..and even maybe my iPhone???? I'm curious and i can't seem to find any info. I've seen a guy sample from a CD player before, but he had the 1000

And is it also true that i can record straight into my protools with the 3K WITHOUT the need for scuzzy's and floppies? That way I can have the 3K, my sound sources (CD player and iPhone) and everything is ready to be recorded straight into my computer (Protools)?

yup, u can connect CD/Ipad (line level ouput devices) directly and record to PT

I love the look, feel, sound, aesthetics. I don't know i just vibe with it. I had one before and then I regretfully sold it.

You write that you're a newbie then you ask a question that sounds like you're a newbie and then you say that you already had this machine. That sound a bit curious to me. How did you use the 3000 before when you don't even knew the cables or what you can sample?

Lol wow. I didn't have it for a long time. Something was wrong with it and I sent it back. I regret it though because I felt like I could have fixed it but I didn't. Didn't feel like I had to really go into full detail and share a story to be honest. I just wanted to know if it was possible because usually when I see those with the 3K they record from turntable. Never heard or seen anyone mentioning CD players, iPhones or even Laptops.

Im not into turntables because I collect CD's. And I don't like SCSI because they are outdated. Id rather track straight into my computer. Plus i feel the internet provides us with many sounds which is where the idea of my iPhone came in. The 3k is an old product so i had to be sure.

Lol well let me know. Its hard meeting people who have experience with these machines in person.

If I can do what I have been just told, then I feel I would adjust rather quickly. The last 3k i had was defective, but i still vibe with it. Its hard to explain. I've used a Maschine before and even though I've made some beats, guess what? I don't vibe with it..AT ALL

You can very easily sample from any device you can imagine. It just a matter of having the right cords to do it.

Also concerning SCSI, you can just install a CF card reader. And buy one for your PC too.
It's one of the best things you can do to your MPC 3000. No more fear for the click of death...
You can import sounds from the PC if you don't want to sample and more importantly you can save backups of your beats on the PC.
And if you don't allready have it, buy a MIDI/USB adapter or an interface with MIDI so you can synchronize your DAW with the MPC. Makes recording your beats alot easier.
Oh and before I forget, get Vailixi OS!

It sounds like this guy would be better off with a MPC 2500 based on his workflow preferences.

Agreed. I don't understand why people keep trying to fit square pegs into round holes. Keep it simple & work within limitations. Otherwise get the right tool for the right job.

I think a 2500 would suit your preferences better.

@SEMS I think it's because it is a partial 'status' thing to have what is currently coveted as being the most elite piece of gear. If you grew up in DAW world, going to ANY mpc will feel like a headache to many people.
