How do I go about setting up my MPC?

I just bought an MPC 2000 XL. I want to minimize my use of a computer. I have a turntable and mixer with it. I want to know, if I must use my computer, how do I get it all set up? How do I even set it up with my computer? Do I download MPC software? My intentions are to sample using vinyl and record beats. When does the computer come into play? I am new to producing and have been looking into these answers, but cannot seem to know exactly what I need to do. I'd appreciate the advice

The MPC software is not for the 2000xl. If you were to use software to record your MPC, you'll need a DAW like Cubase, Logic, Ableton Live, or anything similar. You will also need an audio interface and a MIDI interface. If your MPC has the 8 output expansion, then it would be a good idea to buy an audio interface with 8 inputs, so you can record 8 audio tracks at a time. Between buying a DAW and an 8 input interface, be prepared to spend about $1000 and a lot of time learning how to use the software. If you just bought the MPC and are still learning it, wait until you're at the point where you have made a few tracks and you're ready to get into recording. Otherwise, you might find yourself overwhelmed trying to learn everything all at once and not be able to get much done.
