Not always.
If the gear itself doesn't have balanced in- and outputs, there's no point in using balanced cables.
My 2000xl doesn't have balanced outputs (i'm pretty sure none of the mpc's are balanced).
Your mixer will probably be balanced, so if you have any other gear that's balanced it's a good idea to use balanced cables there.

balanced cables are the ones with stereo jacks (3 rings) at the ends whereas the unbalanced cables are your classic guitar cable type (mono plugs).

The 1000s has balanced ins and outs.
As above, it's only effective if both ends of the link have balanced connections, and you use stereo patch cables.

sorry jacon, i didn't quite catch that, could you say it again?
yeah, it does affect the sound quality... whether or not you would notice it or not, i'm not sure.

I think it has to do with noise, not the actual sound. The third wire acts as a ground eliminating buzz... but not %1000

I didn't know why my ish was soundin' so shtty before.Then i read a post in here about stereo and mono cables awhile back and cleared the whole thing up.I never knew the diference.Now i use mono cables and it cleared the sound up.
