mpc 1k ready song transfer

what up fam,
I got this question for yall. Now i have my whole beat done on the mpc and it is saved on the flash card. How can i transfer the whole song to my computer so i can edit it some more or just burn it on a cd? Can i drag and drop from the flash card drive when i connect the mpc to the computer? what format is the song gonna be in?

If you have a studio soundcard, you hook it the mpc up to that and record on the computer while the MPC is playing. If you don't have that, but a lot of memory left in the mp, you can resample the track and save it as a sample in on the cf card, like this:

1. Go to the "record" screen
2. Choose "Main out" as input
3. Arm the sampler
4. Press play

The MPC will now sample what it is playing, and you can assign that sound to a pad and save it to CF.

You might have to record every single part (like verse, chorus etc) like this by itself, and then copy/paste it together in the computer because of memory constraints.

What format have you saved it in, on the flash card? If you used "Save all sequences and songs" or the like, a PC or Mac can't read that directly: you need to mix it down to audio. SEQ, ALL, PGM, all those are MPC formats, the PC can't replicate your track that way.

Do you have the 128MB expansion? Then you can mix it down to a new sample. Set record source to "main out", set the sample time to longer than your track, and record your whole track as a new stereo sample. You then save that to the flash card as a Sample (WAV), and open it on your computer like you would any WAV file.

If you don't have the 128MB expansion, you can send it to the PC as audio, through your mixer (if you have one) then to the sound card. You need to be careful about the levels, do some experiments with different sound card settings.

Summary: If you have any more questions, start off by telling me how you saved the song: if it's not a WAV sample, you have to mix it down to stereo WAV before the PC can use it.

Nah I dont have it saved as a wav file. How exactly do i mix it down to a single sample? What I'm thinking is to mix down to a sample every sequence and then when i transfer them to my computer to track them with sonar or soundforge. But how exactly do i mix them down as new samples?
