no disrespect but try reading the midi section of the mpc, cool edit and midi man piece manuals. midi is a very basic function that you should/need to know and if you do not understand this part of midi you will have problems down the road. invest some time into reading your hardware manuals because this is the THEE first step in beat making.

If it's a MPC1000, there's not much you can do with Cool Edit using MIDI, the MPC1000 only uses MIDI Clock for sync, which Cool Edit does not use at all.
(This has nothing to do with WAV sample editing, of course, Cool Edit does that very well.)
