Okay so I'm looking on ebay for a zip drive and it looks like iomega is the way to go. Is there anything in particular that I should look out for? Can I expect trouble finding a drive that works wwell?I have the 2000XL which has a 50 pin SCSI right? Does the zip drive need to be the same?

What is the best size also? Is a jaz drive a better option? It seems that zip drives are either 100mb or 200mb and jaz are 1gig or 2gig so I guess I'd rather get a jaz drive obviously.

What's the beef?

i heard and think myself that zip is the way to go. you can choose whatever size you want but 100mb works just fine for me.

i believe the zip drive is a 25pin scsi. my mpc2000 is also a 25 pin. the zip should come with a 25pin to 25pin cord. ebay is a good place to look.

get em pretty cheap. peace

just make sure you get a 250MB drive. a 100MB drive will only read/save to 100MB disks, but a 250 will read/save to both 100MB and 250MB disks.

The 2000XL is definately 50 pin according to the manual. Does that mean I have to get a zip with 50 pin also?

nope. theres all types of cables available. you would have to purchase a 25pin to 50pin scsi cable.

http://web.tampabay.rr.com/dwilson3/cables.html

check that site out. and I believe you might want the CBL-DBS2-3 or CBL-DBS2-6.

BUT dont quote me on that. email the site and ask your question. they will answer it. i asked about mine when I needed to know.

but look through the site and see for yourself.

"but a 250 will read/save to both 100MB and 250MB disks"

I do not think that you can format a 100 disk in a 250 drive from the MPC. This is due to a problem in the firmware of the 250's. Same issue with other samplers and that combination.

3k....i use both size disks (100MB & 250MB) in my 250 drive on the regular. the 250 backwards compatible holds true for all zip platforms...PC, Mac, External, etc.
