Worth upgrading MPC One to 2.8? Fear of bricking my device

Just bought my first mpc (finally!!! :smoker: ) and saw that it is running on 2.7.1.
Should I wait for 2.8.x or are those bricked devices some few faulty units?
I could not stand another day without the fancy little box and don't want to risk anything.

Maybe you guys could state your experiences here to help me decide.

Okay, thx for the info. I think I will risk it since some of the new features seem to come in handy. Will use the software to try the update.
