help with start issue (mpx not recognized via usb)

hi there,
i recieved my mpc-x today. before starting i already mounted a sata ssd.
then i connected the usb cable to my win7 system.
(to format the ssd in exfat)
but the mpcx does not show in my windows explorer.
neither the default drive nor the ssd.
mpc display says "looking for computer"
win7 device manager shows MPC X devices, but with exclamation marks.
any idea?
