There are always many workarounds and the possibilities are endless.
You can output the sound in a device like a 404, pass it through and back in the input and then out through the master out on the live 2 and the X.
Also the Ipad should not be underestimated when it comes to filters, compressors and such.
There are MANY MANY sound comparisons on YT and the majority of them clearly show that the differences are slim to none, and nothing that a compressor or filter couldnt fix.
Too many people get caught up in the sound game. I play bass guitar and its the same thing, people bragging about their vintage bass sounding much better, handwound pickups, etc etc etc.
Same with spraypainting cars (robot vs human) and ofcourse welding (robot vs human).
Focus on features and workflow and pound for pound the vintage machines cant hold a candle to the new machines as they simply are too expensive these days.
Nice to have, nice to collect or to get that retro feeling while making a beat like they did back in the day.
If you got one keep it, if you want to get a MPC to really make music with, then get the recent models.
