Best way to combine MPC One, SP404 & Ableton?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the MPC world and still trying to figure out a workflow that suits me. Any advice is appreciated!

What would be the best approach to jamming on the MPC ONE? I have a SP404, a synth and a mic - I thought I could just run them all through my 4 channel interface into ableton to record my jams. I'd record to the click from ableton and have some special samples on the SP that I'd apply fx to and the backing track on the MPC one.

Now - how can I just jam on the pads of the MPC like on the SP? I miss the Gate and Loop buttons... Everytime I tried jamming I was disappointed by the fact that pads always play to the end before they can be muted - is there a workaround?

What would I have to do/what way would be the easiest to let the creativity flow without thinking about arrangement? also - is there a way to make samples/pads stay perfectly in sync with each other?

sounds like on the MPC One you need to read about programs.

In particular, look up note on versus one shot. This is similar to gate on the sp404
