How to Change Location for Installation of Software + Phone?

Hello,

I have just bought an AKAI MPK Mini and I have two questions.

I have registered the product online, and tried to install all the included free software listed in the AKAI Software Manager thing eg the MPC Beats software and the 3 main Instrument packs, sound packs, editors, plugins etc?

I know the Registration and activation code work because I've already tried using the Hybrid 3 Instrument at the top of the list.

But I've hit a snag...

My System Drive (C:\) - is really really full - not much space left at all... and when I started installing this stuff - it gave me no options to change installation location - and just forced me to install it all right where I didn't want it?

Later in the process of installing thing after thing etc I checked the settings in the manager thing and changed the Installation folder - but either it didn't work at all - or only a tiny amount of the software went to my other emptier drive (G:\) which I want ALL of it installed to?

My drive is so full that it forced me to stop installing all the software mid install because it maxed out the drive!

Please tell me there is a way to either move everything off it (which I'd prefer as this all took 45 mins - such a needlessly painful process that should have been a single installer!).... or alternately I assume best option would be uninstall the lot - and start over - somehow installing it all to the Emptier G:\ from the very beginning as I wanted to do from the Start?

I hope someone has some good news?



Also - how can I confirm which version it is - it's not on the box? I think I saw it say somewhere that it is the mkiii in some of the software but I can't remember where - or if it was correct?

It looks like it lists multiple Editors for different versions (eg mkiii) - I assume I should only install one then?



BTW - I tried calling the phone number for customer service help - with the Number listed for Australia - 1300 886 649...

The guy had absolutely no idea about anything. He kept saying the serial number was wrong and he wasn't sure if they did support for it at all? Which makes no sense at all. Especially since the serial number worked just fine for the Software Registration?

Is there a better number to call - or did I go to the wrong department? (I chose AV in the recorded computer menu thing as there weren't many options)


Also the iLok License Manager software for Windows (I have ... I tried installing that too - but it didn't seem to install properly? Or maybe it didn't finish installing cause the drive was too full? Looks like the files are all there - but when I click on what looks like the exe - does nothing really?

I've activated the products (i think) anyway - I've signed up for the iLok account online etc. But would like to get the Manager working too?

Can you only install all that included software on 2x computers or only 2x fresh installs? Maybe I'm completely off track - but I saw it list (1/2) somewhere and that's why I wondered that?


Also - the Melodics 'teaching software' thing that says it has 60x free lessons. Is that any good for someone who is a lifelong musician (knows theory, piano, guitar etc - but is new to finger drumming, MPC's in general etc and modern synths, MIDI etc) ? Can you pick the lessons you want or just skip wants that you don't need?

More importantly - do you only get access for a limited time once you register? Eg only a month ?

I'm curious - but wanted to find out before I install it just in case?


Any other advice on this stuff or anything you'd recommend for someone new to this stuff eg point me to other software or good lessons either videos or webpages etc - anything would be appreciated.

Not familiar with windows but on a Mac there's no official option to install content other than the boot drive, not unless you want to try symbolic links. TBH you shouldn't be running a computer on a full boot disk, you should instead be looking at how you can free up more space by shifting other content to other drives, e.g. documents, media etc. Free up 20 or 30GB of space and you'll be fine, for a while at least.

MPC Software is two computers at any given moment, you can activate and deactivate as required. Not sure about the 'optional extras', I suspect it's the same.

I believe the free account gives you unlimited access to the freebies. But they are pretty basic, just an intro and designed to encourage you to subscribe. I believe you can skip lessons you don't want, but TBH why don't you just install it and find out (after you free up some disk space...).

And yeah - that's exactly why I wanted to use the other drive as I said.
There's gotta be another way - this is nuts in this day and age especially for high end tech to have such lame installers.

like I said - quite often with stuff like this - a countdown starts the second you activate it. If so - I didn't want to do that until I had some time to use it properly.
