for example on eminem-like toy soldiers.......first he plays the original sample then in the actual song the sample sounds louder,more "bassy" and just all around better.....this may be a very simple question but i just started messin with my potnas mpc2000xl less than a month ago so excuse the stupidity.......so help a ***** out plz

There is SO many things that could make a sound bigger, more stereo, bassier, spread out. EQ, layering and efx to name just 3 out of the millions of techniques and tweaks, could be outboard gear making it sound like that. You might not get what your looking for JUST within the 2kxl itself.

you need a high pass filter to get it to sound thin and then use the original sample to use for the beat.

In essence, its been layered....The sample is the basis/foundation for the track. Dre/Em then produced around the track.
