here is a lil trick I use....

1st: Music Match to Rip the cd (or if the format is right you can use Wavelab or Sound Forge)

2nd: Use wavelab or sound forge to start stealing your chops or samples... Copy what you want and paste it in a new edit. Set up your timing so that it hits on the pads right....

3rd: Save it as .wav

4th: Download the www.midicase.com MPC Editor and create your .pgm
(make sure your save the .pgm and all the sounds in the same folder if you save it on your pc / mac)

5th: pop in your zip and export your .pgm --- load it into your MPC and BOOM you are up in running...

this is just my method.... there are several... and I am a newbie to the mpc also.. but I am a digital head so..... I like software and all that...

From the stereo? Then it's not ripping, just sampling, hook up the audio line outs. (Even better: if you have Digital out on your stereo, hook that up.

No line outs? Use a headphone socket, and a 1/8" -> RCA cable, but be careful of the levels. (Start with the outs and the record level at 1/2.)

Does your stereo have Tape Outs/Ins? That's an ideal way to hook up the MPC, you can control what goes to the tape outs -> MPC.
More detail? Tell us more about your turntable and stereo.
