Hi All, brand new to MPC and not exactly au fait with studio/audio principles but have a small number of synth type devices I mess around with from time to time so this may be a very basic question but here goes...
I have a UMC1820 bought specifically for MPC, as well as a rack mixer that does double duty in a voice chain for amateur radio. On my desk is a Behringer Studio L that serves as a PC soundcard and primarily just allows me to select different audio sources and gives me a big knob for master volume. This is connected to a small amp and monitor speakers.
I can take audio out of the Studio L (hence from youtube etc.) and use an out into the MPC.
My question is this:
Should all my sources go into the mixer first, and their corresponding out go into the UMC1820, and UMC main outs to the Studio L so I can control the levels using the mixer, or vise versa? Or direct into the UMC1820 and corresponding out to the mixer? If the latter I'd then use the mixer main outs to the Studio L so I can hear the audio but would only have mixer control over the audible audio and not levels... hope that makes sense.
In my mind it makes more sense to go into the mixer and into the UMC.. Thanks!
