Maybe this is a strange way of doing things, but I’m kind of new to the MPC workflow. I’m on the MPC3 beta if that changes things, but I think this is a general question.

I’ve got a drum program that I’m using for multiple sequences. In one sequence I want to modify a pad parameter in the automation window, for example, set the filter cutoff to 127. But I don’t want that to affect the other sequences. It seems that if I set it in the automation, then when I change to a different sequence the parameter stays the same as whatever the last value was. I guess this makes sense, but I was wondering if there was a way to set some sort of default that it would go back to when I switched sequences, or maybe another way of doing the same thing.

In LIST EDIT you can view the automation in detail.

1. At the end of the automation sequence you can place an automation event in there to bring the automation back to a norma/default so it doesn’t stay with the same value going into another sequence.

Or

2. At the beginning of every sequence you can place a normal/default value automation event in there for seq start. Seq will always start at that value.

You can do both above in the automation screen and bring the automation line to a normal/default value at the very end of the sequence.

On 2.15x, MPC X and MPC Key61, I’ve done this with MUTE and PITCH automations. Takes time but it’s very precise.
