Hello everyone, I’m completely new to the world of Akai MPC and have spent the past few days going through many videos and tutorials. In the end, I came to the conclusion that the MPC Live 2 should be the right device for me.
What do I want to do with it? I play keyboard in a cover band. What I need is a device to trigger samples. And specifically, this should be song-dependent – meaning I want to assign the appropriate samples, stems, etc., to each song, and then use my keyboard (Roland Fantom) to send a Program Change command to the MPC, which should then switch to the correct song as well.
In other words, I want to load a “page” on the MPC for each song I play live, so that pressing pads will trigger the samples I’ve assigned to that song.
I know this is a rather limited use case. The MPC is actually designed for music production, but all I need is this specific functionality.
Can you help me figure out the best way to set this up on the MPC? I think this won’t work via sequences, but rather needs to be done using tracks. Am I right?
I’d really appreciate any tips, as the search function hasn’t helped me much. Thank you very much!
