The xl doesn't need a boot disk unless is worng with your MPC.
There should be a BIN file in your download.

2k classic
Put ONLY the BIN and SYS file on a blank disc and try that as a start up disk.

Put ONLY the BIN file on a blank disc and load it as you would a sample/sound. This will update the OS.

ya. i guess something has been wrong with my mpc.. cuz it has always read a start up disk to turn it on since i got it..(about 7 months ago). but i'm still really new at this and i don't know what you mean by:
"Put ONLY the BIN and SYS file on a blank disc and try that as a start up disk."
what is a BIN and SYS file? and how do i put that onto a blank disk?

*sigh*

http://www.akaipro.co.jp/global/archiveOS/mpc2x114.zip

1. Download this zip file.
2. Unzip the downloaded file, drag and drop the "MPC2KXL" file
to a freshly formatted fat/fat16 disc (for s&g's put ONLY the "MPC2KXL"
file on the disc OK).
3. Put that disc in the MPC.
4. Load up that file "MPC2KXL" just as you would a sample.
Doing this should update you OS in your XL.

Now, if you don't know how to drag and drop something is very wrong here.
Holla back.

It a type of format the computer can "format" your disk in. When you try to format a disk or hard drive, you have options. They include fat 16,fat 32 and NTFS. Lamp is telling you to MAKE sure you choose fat 16.

It nothings hard. Dont think to much about it, jus do as he says. It'l be fine!

Hook a homie up...I'm aight with my beats...for every 10 wack beats I make one diamond is born..I mean anybody can make beats nowadays...I bust out ten 4 bar loop beats in 2 hours but in the end its the customer who chooses the beat :D I'm down to work with anybody if they cool and show respect for what I do...although criticism on a good word is cool as well...The MPC2000xl is my main ish though...I sequence everything on that sucka

Look at it like this......the 10 wack beats are just beats you have not perfected yet......always revisit
