Need Advice on MPC purchase

Hey MPC cats,
I'm new here and I wanna say peace first, but the main reason I registered is for advice from people with experience on MPCs.
I'm interested in buying a newer model and I've found a MPC2000XL-MCD
for a reasonable price. I've heard of the 2000xl but not the MCD at the end, so I was wondering if anyone could shed light on this unit and if it's worth the money, or should I hold off and save for the 4000? I've been into making music for a while now, but I'm still a newbie when it comes to the newer MPC's. I would really appreciate some help on this, especially some feedback by those who own/use the 2000xl and the 4000 and the differences/advantages of both......flexibility, adaptability, capability, etc.

If you're just learning and starting out - i would say to cop a used 2000 or 2000xl from ebay or on here....

dont pay anything ridiculous (a maxed-out 2000 shouldnt put you back more than 700-800)

a maxed-out 2000xl a little more

dont spend the doug on the 4000 - just my opinion

DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the feedback. I don't want to spend the dough on a 4000 but I don't want to waste the dough on a 2000xl just to buy a better model down the road. I'm about to get into music on a more serious note than just recreation purposes or collaborating on a beat that my man sells, so therefore I want a decent machine that will have nice capabilities and adaptability and also will last a while(not be outdated quickly). I'm not new to making music, but my experience lies on an ASR so technically I am new, from an MPC standpoint. As for doing research, that is why I registered here. I'm hoping that fellow members, such as yourself, will give me honest feedback on the best MPC to get for my purposes listed above and possibly give some advice once I get it if needed(I like to use trial and error for learning). On that note, are they similar to an ASR as far as connecting to practically anything or will I need to purchase special adapters? I assume they can sample music from outside sources as an ASR can, either through a PC for pre-made samples or by creating one's through a keyboard or guitar.....I hope that I can hook up my keyboard at least as I love beats with piano in it.
I found a maxed out MPC 2000xl-MCD for $1200....brand new, does that sound like a decent buy? I compared it to other machines and the price was about that, maybe higher for one's that are used as opposed to being new. As I said, I'm looking to get serious with my music and I need a serious machine to do so, pleast let me know you feel the 2000xl-MCD is worth the money.
