Last night i bought a midi controller (m-audio 49e) i also have a mpc 2000xl and a lot of software (VST's like korg legacy and linplug and so on) what i want to do is play the VST's off my computer on the midi controller and record into the mpc. Right now i have the controller hooked up usb to computer and the MIDI out on the controller to the midi in on the mpc. what happens with this is that i can play the VST's and hear them but they wont record into the mpc and on the other hand i can also play what is in the banks of the mpc on the controller and that records fine into the mpc obviously.now i've looked on this site and i think i know what the problem is but can somebody confirm that i now need the mpc to be linked by midi to computer. if this is the case i run a laptop with no sound card so i have no midi connection on my laptop. i dont know if this would work but i seen a midi to usb connector would this be an option if anybody does this scenario or anything simillar or just any input can you please help me.
