processing chops

haven't been around for a while fellas ...busy as hell,anyway I got a few questions for you:

1.when you sample(in the mpc or on computer) do you sample in mono or stereo?

2.once it's chopped(assuming you chop) how do you process the sample afterwards.i.e.filtering/compression settings/limiting/gating equalizing/normalizing etc.
(just curious because my chops just don't seem as full as i want them)

kick drums, snare, hihat - mono usually cause they sit in the middle.
Sounds/instruments that have pannning need to be sampled in stereo.

I do everything you just stated most of the time (it really depends on the needs of the sound/instrument you just sampled though ie, does it need eq, was it already compressed before sampling and/or does it need more compression?). What do you mean by "not full"? Does your sample get cut on/off sharply at the start/end? EQ type full sounding freq's or what?

First off,DAMN good lookin' out on the crazy fast reply!It wasn't even up for 10 minutes.Sorry,I mean like an eq full type sound,but when I add eq to it,it still sounds like doodoo.I just need like a template for settings to use as a guideline..I'm sure I could figure it out from there.I gotta admit it though,I'm just no good at sample processing!No matter what I do to the chop sounds ,I dunno amatuerish....like it sits in the mix horrible.Imagine a nice full sounding banger and then these chops come in and sound very thin,non-compressed,way back in the mix etc.Practice makes perfect I guess....just need a little help with some settings.

Practice and expermimentation make good bedfellows.

I know some will hate me for this but I swear by my headphones. Sony mdvr700 I love em and they have never failed to give me a good mix or processing sound. I know I can get better headphones but I'm happy where I'm at. Maybe in another life I'll get different headphones.

sample the sound so it almost clips in the recording screen of the mpc..for processing i just run the decks through my mixer w/ 4 channel eq and route the turtable sound to mpc through the monitor send of the mixer..
