NO CUTTING OR PASTING

I'm wanting to sync my digi002(rack) to my master. I was told how to do it over the
phone, and it worked. I was able to record my tracks into the pro tools without having to go back and cut and paste. Now, I do remember taking a midi cable, going out from the digi002 into the in of my master. (mpc 2000xl) Then, I was told to click on midi on the top of the pro tools page, and something else? I completely forgot how it went after that!
I did have a friend who owns a 001 come in and the way he syncs his 001 back to his mpc is different than the 002. I hope this doesn't sound confusing!
Can anyone shine some light?

Alright, I dug myself out of this one on my own. (by pure luck!)
Just in case anyone finds themselves in this predicament, I've left a light at the end of this tunnel:
1)Go to midi beat clock,under midi, and enable it (showing digi002)
2)Then go to session setup under windows, and check MTC to port, then select digi002 port.


JUST THAT SIMPLE!
