MPC1000, TimeStretch, Slice, etc...

Yo what's good y'all.

I do all my production on custom-made PC, using Cubase, VSTs and a MIDI keyboard. Recently, I hooked up with this dude in my dorm, who has an MPC2000XL, and we did a track together.

All I can say is wow -- I was about to stick him for his MPC. I truly understand what everyone is talking about when they refer to the "feel."

But to get the point, I was lookin at the MPC1000 on Akai's website and I didn't really see anything mentioned about its sampling capabilities. However, when I looked at the 2000XL, I saw that it mentioned everything about sample editing, cut, paste, time stretch, slice, resampling, etc.

Is the MPC1000 incapable of doing any of this? If not, I'll be pretty tight about that and probably settle for an MPD16.

yo get that 1000 it has cut paste sample editing it dosent have timstretch or zoning yet but thats supposed to be coming in an os update sometime in may hopefully. and since u have the computer with the vsts and midi controller it will make the 1000 a welcomed companion

the 2000xl only has 32 mb of ram. double the mpc1000 standards. if you upgrade the mpc1000 you get 128 mb's of ram. thats 24 minutes of samples. well worth it.

if you get enough money, i'd suggest the mpc4000. very kewl indeedy.
