What do you use it for....

Everyone list there most common use for their MPC and whats their fave trick with it and also the way they have it set up within their studio.
This way newbs like me can see what its potentials are plus people who are deciding will know its a must have!!!

Starting with me i havent put it to work yet!

My most common use, makin beats. U asked.

I use mine mainly for beats but sometimes I may find a horn or something like a guitar riff so I chop it up in pro tools and sequence it thru audacity then I run it thru blue box and load it onto my mpc...

Then I can take each pad turn them into 16 levels and make something totally different....

My hook up... I have my MPC and Fantom running into pro tools via the mbox analog.. Sometimes I use my triton, but its pretty much collecting dust.. I like my fantom better.. Funny thing is my triton is brand new and I bought my fantom used....

I use my mpc4000 as a door stop.


What the hell do you use yours for?

NEVER EVER TRY TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH WITH IT!

The toothpaste gets stuck on the rubber pads and is very difficult to get off.

i produced the majority of my debut album with just a 2k.


Its a damn orchestra in a box - only better.

So when im using cubase what can i do in the MPC that cubase cant? As i said i have 1 just not worked it out yet...

hmm, the main difference would have to be that the other is software and the other is hardware ----> which leads to being able to feel it. touch it. rub it. caress it. maybe stroke it a little. bang it. play it. instead of clicking it. clicking it. clicking it. clicking it. etc etc

there must have been a reason you got the mpc? or did you get it just because it was the cool thing to get?

I got it cos all these hip hop producers swear by iy, and it was such a good price i culdnt let it go!

Well to me its better to do your beats on the MPC than software...
I have pro tools and with the MPC instead of moving stuff around with the mouse you'll get a better feel with the pads right there at your hands...

Plus you can navigate thru yuor drum sounds and samples alot faster...

It's good software but Cheech is right about feeling your production cause what you use will be a MAJOR factor in that feel.

Well my most common use of course is music production. I guess my favorite trick is to use the zone feature and make programs out of what I sampled and my set up is mpc 2000XL is the center piece that controls my Triton Studio and my Roland XP-60 my planet phatt and mo phatt all of this runs through my Roland VS 2480 recorder/mixer that runs audio to my Roland DS-90 monitors. I also have a Korg trinity and mpc 1000 and old school eps16plus and akai s900 sampler but they don't get used anymore there just a reminder of where I started. well hope this helps.

Yea cool i have the VS2480 to its great for mixing on.... Better than doing within the seqeuncer
